Job Description:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The Department of Business & Economics at Salve Regina University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Healthcare Administration, who is also willing to serve as the Graduate Program Director for our M.S. in Healthcare Administration program. This position will have a start date at the beginning of the Fall Semester of 2024.
  • Under the direction of the Department of Business and Economics, this role is responsible for teaching, researching, and providing service within the business department, as well as providing leadership and management for the graduate Healthcare Administration (HCA) program to ensure high quality, state-of-the-art, and rigorous educational experiences for Healthcare Administration students that are consistent with Salve Regina University's mission.
  • Teaches courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in Healthcare Administration and other areas (dependent upon the successful candidates background, education and expertise). Provides a quality educational experience for all students. Develops syllabi, presents educational experiences, grades student works, and provides advising support to students within the courses.
  • Leads the Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration program as the program director reporting to the Graduate and Professional Studies office. In this role, develops and maintains the curriculum of the Masters Degree and Graduate Certificates to provide current state-of-the-art educational programs that exceed accreditation requirements. Reviews individual courses for academic rigor, scope of content, and applicability to current healthcare realities. Assesses courses to ensure the achievement of assigned Student Learning Outcomes and compliance with accreditation standards. Reviews grading process for the program and provides feedback to faculty in aggregate detail. Recommends course scheduling to Assistant Chair, Business Department.
  • Recruits, hires, assigns courses, manages and leads HCA faculty. Conducts meetings to communicate expectations, Salve related initiatives, and enlists feedback from faculty. Is administratively responsible to resolve issues for faculty, or engage appropriate Salve resource. Is the administrative liaison for HCA faculty and Salve administration.
  • Provides guidance to graduate and undergraduate students for course selection, certification enrollment, post-graduation employment searches, and mediates issues between students and faculty members. Spearheads the recruitment of students with support of the Admissions and Marketing departments. Assists with internship placements.
  • Searches for new business opportunities for Salve in healthcare related events such as seminars, on campus gatherings, etc. Is a primary interface for Salve with healthcare organizations such as HIMMS, hospitals associations, long term care associations, and professional societies.
  • Serves as advisor to the Salve chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
  • Participates actively with colleagues in the Department of Business and Economics and Graduate Program Directors from across campus. Serves as a member of the Graduate Council and serves on university committees as appropriate.


Requirements:


  • The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of Healthcare Administration, as well as other business-related disciplines. Ideally, a candidate would be both academically and experientially qualified to teach across multiple areas within the department, which could include areas such as business administration, analytics, business law, finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, entrepreneurship or economics. Professionals and academics with experience in Healthcare Administration and backgrounds from all sectors of the business world are welcome to apply! In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate teaching excellence, industry experience, and a strong ability to mentor and advise students.
  • The minimum educational requirement for this position is a Ph.D. in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or other business related discipline. The successful candidate will be available to teach courses on our scenic campus in Newport, RI.
