Job description

Responsibilities

Excellence in Teaching: 

  • Design and deliver engaging and effective courses in forensic biochemistry and related subjects at the undergraduate level. 
  • Promote active learning, critical thinking, and hands-on laboratory experiences among students 
  • Provide mentorship and academic advising to Forensic Science students 
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in forensic biochemistry to ensure that course materials are current and relevant. 

Conduct Rigorous Undergraduate Research: 

  • Develop and lead a vibrant undergraduate research program in forensic biochemistry
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate students in research projects, fostering their critical thinking and laboratory skills
  • Publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present research at conferences

Curriculum Development: 

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop new courses or update existing ones to reflect advancements in Forensic Science
  • Contribute to the improvement of the program's curriculum by incorporating innovative teaching methods and technologies

Service and Collaboration: 

  • Participate in departmental and university committees and contribute to the academic community through service activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research projects and foster connections within the university and the broader scientific community

Professional Development: 

  • Pursue ongoing professional development in the field of Forensic Science, forensic biochemistry, including seeking external research funding, attending relevant conferences, and engaging in scholarly activities

Qualifications

Job Requirements: 

A Ph.D. in Forensic Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Biochemistry, or a closely related field. 

  • A record of research achievements, including a history of publications and the potential to secure external research funding are highly desirable. 
  • A documented passion for teaching and demonstrated excellence in conveying complex scientific concepts to undergraduate students. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students. 
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and teaching. 

Preferred: 

  • Postdoctoral experience. A record of research achievements, including a history of publications and the potential to secure external research funding. 

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
