- To assist the Principal in fulfilling his major role of promoting the educational well being of each student in the school.
- To assist in maintaining an ordered climate that supports meaningful learning experiences for each student in the school.

- To help each student develop an appreciation for cultural and ethnic differences.
MAJOR DUTIES
The Assistant Principal is expected to perform any/all of the following:
- Be directly responsible to the school Principal for all of his activities.
- Serve in the stead of the Principal in his absence.
- Assist the school Principal in the interpretation of school regulations and district policies for students, parents, and staff.
- Assist the Principal in the personnel activities which are necessary in the administration of the school. These include, but are not limited to:
- Interviewing of prospective teacher candidates.
- Induction and orientation of new staff and faculty personnel.
- Evaluation of certificated personnel.
- Scheduling and development for in-service education programs.
- Implementation of due process procedures for certificated personnel when necessary.
- Handle disciplinary actions referred to the Principal's office by teachers (from the classroom), by any staff or faculty member (from the campus), and by students, as the Principal may direct, and deal with special cases as necessary.
- Assist the Principal in the implementation of due process activities for students as necessary.
- Assist the Principal in curriculum, instructional and methodological improvement and assist individual teachers with specific instructional problems.
- Supervise student/parent/teacher conferences as the Principal may direct.
- Assist the Principal in the administration of the homebound education program.
- Assist the Principal with the implementation of grading policies.
- Develop a master schedule of classes to meet the needs of the students, satisfy statutory requirements, and meet the restrictions of facilities, faculty and funds available.
- Coordinate necessary activities with the administrations of "feeder" schools to ease matriculation problems of incoming sixth graders.
- Direct the timely registration of, and the completion of a course schedule for each student in the junior high school in the Fall and Spring.
- Direct the changing of individual student schedules when necessary.
- Check the status of pupils at the end of the school year, and notify parents of apparent irregularities.
- Maintain complete records on the progress of each student. Complete records include, as a minimum:
- Up to date transcript of credits earned.
- Attendance records.
- Anecdotal and testing data.
- Up to date records on students who have transferred into the school.
- Supervise periodic reporting of pupil progress to parents.
- Direct the issuance of absence and tardy admit slips, maintenance of record of such issuances, and investigation of excessive or irregular cases.
- Report to the Principal excessive or irregular absences or tardiness and coordinate solutions of such problems with parents.
- Supervise the student insurance program.
- Supervise all office clerical activities.
- Assist the Principal with supervision of the guidance services provided at the school.
- Coordinate cafeteria, school-related transportation, and other support services, with the appropriate district and community offices.
- Assist the Principal in facilities coordination. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Scheduling of classes in accordance with the facility's limitations.
- Scheduling of extra and co-curricular and outside usage of the school facility and grounds.
- Safety inspections and follow-ups.
- Maintenance and custodial activities.
- Be responsible for scheduling of, rental of, and contracting for the use of school facility by off-campus groups.
- Develop a schedule of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including athletic events. Development includes, but is not limited to:
- Coordinating the scheduling with appropriate clubs, sponsors, other schools, faculty, administration, etc.
- Obtaining approval of the Principal for final schedule confirmation.
- Scheduling use of school facilities.
- Maintenance of an up to date master schedule.
- Distribution of a monthly calendar of events to the campus.
- Providing a monthly up to date master schedule to the district offices.
- Schedule and coordinate student assemblies.
- Supervise activities of the student council.
- Develop and distribute the student handbook to all students.
- Assist the principal by working with department heads to develop and amend budget requests.
- Facilitate purchasing activities associated with the school.
- Assist in other aspects of the administration of the school as the Principal may direct.
- Facilitate and direct athletic responsibilities associated with the school.
- Monitor and discipline transportation issues associated with the school.
