Role:

 

To direct and coordinate the activities of personnel in a Credit Union facility, aiding in ensuring the credit union meets organizational, financial, operational, service, and growth plans. To act as the chief operations assistant, having knowledge of and performing as needed all duties pertinent to the daily operation of the credit union. These duties include all MSR activities, lending, reports, postings, and balancing. Must effectively interface with accounting, IT, loan functions, and other outside consultants and vendors.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Manages and monitors credit union operations to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed and that appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory conditions. Handles assigned journal/ledger accounts including making entries and balancing. Pulls and monitors all assigned daily reports. Performs the duties of an MSR and lender as required. Monitors credit union per audit standards to insure clean audits. Acts as interface with auditors, accountant, IT, loan functions, Visa, and other consultants and vendors.

Explains all services, products, and loans to potential customers to generate additional business and to promote positive public relations.

Trains new personnel; prepares work schedules; and monitors performance. Over sight of loan and overdraft collections. Has input into subordinate's review and evaluation process.

Reviews documents prepared by subordinate personnel, such as overdraft, account opening, loan documents, Visa and debit cards, fraud alerts, CTR and SAR's vault entry and exit records to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Assists subordinate personnel in balancing daily transactions; examine, evaluate, and process loan applications in absence of subordinate personnel.

Resolves account-related concerns with customers.

Evaluates all credit union activities to ensure they are in compliance with established Credit Union policies, procedures, and objectives; recommends changes to Operations Manager.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.

 

Performance Measurements:

 

1.

Pulls and monitors all assigned reports on a daily basis. Enters, maintains, and balances all assigned journal/ledger accounts. Assists in the preparation of the call report and the board meeting packets.

2.

Maintains a cohesive, highly trained, motivated staff sufficient to meet daily demands.

3.

Actively promote an environment where credit union policies and procedures are carefully followed by your direct reports.

4.

Coach and develop skills of your direct reports to identify opportunites to cross sell products and services for the betterment of the member's financial well being.

5.

Provide informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.

6.

Keep management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the branch.

7.

Note observations of employee performance. Give and receive feedback from employee on the same no later than 20 working days following each quarter, completing performance reviews within the prescribed time frame.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

Experience

Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Good working knowledge of regulations and credit union policies and procedures. Accounting/bookkeeping knowledge or experience or academic credentials is required.

 

Education

(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

 

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

 

Other Skills

Able to operate a 10-key calculator, typewriter, and computer keyboard, copy machine, telephone and mail machine. Effective ability to communicate in English both in writing and verbally. To maintain a high standard of professional decorum and personal responsibility which instills confidence in both the membership and with co-workers.

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and sit for protracted periods of time. Ability to lift up to 25-pounds.

 

Work Environment

Generally an office environment during normal working hours. Some evenings and weekends are required. Minimal travel, usually to local meetings, trainings, conferences, or member place of business. Overnight travel, while rare, is possible.
