SUMMARY:
MCAD is seeking an Assistant Media Technician. The Assistant Media Technician is responsible for providing primary circulation services of Media Center equipment at the circulation window; This position will provide communication between the MCAD community and the Media Center, and assists the department Manager and Media Technicians with training student staff, and ensuring access to equipment. Assists students and faculty with exhibition and event technology setup and troubleshooting needs. The Assistant Media Technician must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a part time, benefit eligible, non-exempt position expected to work 20 hours a week. This position reports to the Media Technology Services Manager and is paid $20 hourly.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide primary circulation services of equipment to students, faculty, and staff at the Media Center circulation window.
- Assist department staff with large checkouts for in-class demonstrations, commencement exhibitions, junior reviews, merit award exhibitions, and major gallery installations.
- Assists the Media Center Manager and Media Technicians with the digital circulation and reservation systems including updating content for accuracy, data entry of new or revised items, maintaining communications between the department and its patrons via email, phone, and in-person; pursuing overdue/missing equipment.
- Assist in instructing students, faculty, and staff on Media Center policies and reservation systems, and with technical instruction on usage of equipment when able.
- Ensure operability of circulation equipment by direct inspection and/or verification.
- Troubleshoot and correct technical problems when possible, delegate to Media Technicians as appropriate, and assist with maintaining daily accurate equipment status in the reservation system.
- Create equipment and kit documentation including labels, shelf tags, etc.
- Assist with the annual equipment inventory.
- Assist in coordinating usage of Media Center controlled studios and equipment needs.
- Assist with A/V support across MCAD when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Represent MCAD's vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Filmmaking, Photography, or Media Technologies is strongly preferred but not required.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience required
- Strong interpersonal and oral communications skills are essential including the ability to deal diplomatically and professionally with a wide range of people and personalities.
- Experience with management of both physical and database inventories desired
- Familiarity and knowledge of digital media hardware and software including digital cameras and audio recording equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with analog photography equipment and film processing preferred.
- Apple and macOS computer experience preferred.
ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
