Form of workThe medical Laboratory Assistant reports to the on duty laboratory supervisor and performs a variety of patient testing tasks, and assists laboratory technicians and scientists. Duties include but are not limited to specimen preparation, slide staining, instrumentation troubleshooting, record keeping, coordination of testing supplies, plating cultures, processing samples, and answering phone calls. This is an entry level position that requires working with patient blood and body fluids.
The laboratory assistant may report waived test results and aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
