Position Overview
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) of The Healing Side is primarily responsible for supporting the General Manager (GM) in day-to-day operations for the dispensary which include effective performance management and execution of retail operations including merchandising, staffing, and the customer order fulfillment processes. The GM oversees all activities related to the operation of the dispensary to include customer identification, record retention, product tracking and inventory control in compliance with all regulatory requirements and rules governed by the NJ CRC and as an AGM you will help support the GM in accomplishing this.
Primary Responsibilities
● Drive a culture of positive employee engagement with a strong focus on
inclusion & diversity.
● Develop, coach, and consistently execute excellent service standards. Ensure consistent execution of steps of service by using tools such as staff meetings, and customer feedback. Constantly work to improve standards and customer satisfaction.
● Take ownership of The Healing Side dispensary business and ensure the dispensary operates efficiently and profitably.
● Actively manage inventory, recalls, and pricing to meet cost and sales targets.
● Effectively manage cash controls and financial reporting. Ensure check register, cash outs, bank logs, inventory and deposits are accurate and executed according to The Healing Side’s standard.
● Hire, train, schedule and manage staff at the dispensary to achieve established standards, sales, and profit objectives as well as customer satisfaction. Ensure that all deadlines are met and take accountability for completion.
● Effectively manage service labor, scheduling, and payroll.
● Conduct performance reviews with employees & monitor employee productivity, attitudes, and performance results.
● Maintain a general awareness of cannabis and retail trends to help create innovative and adaptive strategies. Work closely with grower-processors to understand and learn about their products.
● Maintain excellent facilities conducive to enhancing employee productivity.
● Work with the management team to meet all regulatory requirements and rules governed by the NJ CRC. Correct all violations with a sense of urgency.
● Work with The Healing Side management team (finance, marketing, security) to ensure standards are met. Maintain open lines of communication with staff.
● Promote open feedback from reception, retail staff, and security.
● Become a subject matter expert in New Jersey’s seed-to-sale tracking system Metrc and integrated systems.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
● Minimum of 2 years of management experience in the retail, restaurant, grocery, or other service industry with responsibility for financial results.
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
● Previous management proficiency in high volume retail with P&L accountability.
● Ability to create and maintain a customer focused culture.
● Cannabis experience is a plus.
● Work/manage coverage of weekends and holidays as necessary.
● Must be flexible regarding work schedule and willing to work 5-6 days per week including evening and weekends including opening and closing shifts.
● Have a proven track record of working effectively with customers with a minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred.
