Job Description
This role will serve as an active member of a service oriented, and student-centered team. The Assistant Director will maintain student account and loan systems which include Workday Student, Nelnet, Flywire AR Collect, and ECSI; disburse all financial aid funds to student accounts; assist with reconciliation of federal, state, institutional, and private [scholarship] funds; assist with the development and processing of departmental exception, discrepancy, and reconciliation reports and workflows; serve as primary contact for systems security with LTS; assist with electronic communications for the department; and assist with the processing and reconciliation of departmental charges, adjustments, waivers, and refunds. This role will assist in the collections of institutional and Perkins loans as well as past due Student Account Receivables. This role will also assist the Associate Director with maintaining and testing SFS systems and databases.
Primary Position Responsibilities
  • Maintain financial aid information systems which include Workday, Nelnet, Flywire AR Collect and ECSI
  • Reconcile federal, state, institutional and private funds
  • Assist with development and processing of departmental exception, discrepancy, and reconciliation reports and workflows
  • Assist with electronic communications for the department
  • Processing and reconciling departmental charges, adjustments, waivers, and refunds
  • Provide outreach and counseling to delinquent loan borrowers
  • Provide outreach and counseling to delinquent student account receivables

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in higher education and/or one of the areas that comprises Student Financial Services (financial aid, student accounts/tuition payment, student employment, educational financing) or related field. Experience with a wide variety of software and database applications, such as WorkDay, PowerFAIDS, Google, and Microsoft Office.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently, but to also contribute positively to a team approach. Demonstrated experience in providing superior service, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Provide excellent service to all constituents (students, applicants, parents, colleagues) as evidenced by clear, accurate, and timely communication via email, phone, and in person.
  • Actively engage and participate as a member of the SFS team.
  • Support in monitoring departmental systems updates and maintain efficiencies and effective office workflows.
