Department: Student Engagement
DIVISION: Academic Affairs
HOURS: Exempt – Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; occasional evenings and weekends
Salary range: $62,000 to $68,000

General Description:
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is a team member within the office of Student Engagement. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging activities and initiatives at the college. This position also supports and participates in all Student Engagement initiatives. This position serves as a campus ombudsmen and Title IX Coordinator supporting students in navigating informal and formal complaints and grievances. From a Student Engagement perspective, this position supports students, faculty, and staff through the development of services and programming that brings DEI initiatives to the institution.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Maintains working knowledge of 1964 Civil Rights Act, ADA, Title IX, and other applicable laws.
- Provides leadership through collaboration in the development of a variety of campus programming that covers educational, social, and cultural activities.
- Participates in student, faculty, and staff development opportunities through the delivery of DEIB in-service trainings and workshops.
- Develops and maintains services and programs that support student recruitment and retention.
- Develops and maintains infrastructure that encourages stakeholder engagement and creates key internal and external partnerships for resources and support.
- Supports the college community by providing resources and advisement for appropriate and inclusive communication.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for advocacy and awareness on DEIB matters.
- Oversees the student grievance and complaint process and maintains reporting and statistics.
- Supports and provides conflict resolution, mediation, and training for students, as needed.
- Serves as the Title IX Coordinator and maintains compliance and reporting.
- Participates with, and supports all areas of Student Engagement, to include strategic planning, over-arching development plans (ODP), self-studies, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in national, regional, and state, professional opportunities, as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Methods of Accountability:
- Verbal and written communication with Executive Director of Student Engagement.
- Verbal and written feedback from faculty, staff, and students, as well as other college stakeholders.
- Annual performance evaluation by Executive Director of Student Engagement with input from stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, and five years of relevant experience in sociology, social anthropology, public administration, and/or higher education with a focus on DEI planning and initiatives. Master’s degree preferred with two years of relevant experience in sociology, social anthropology, public administration and/or higher education with a focus on DEI planning and initiatives.
- Must possess a working knowledge of Title IX regulations and procedures. Applicant must have successfully completed or be able to complete the ATIXA training as a Title IX Investigator and Coordinator and maintain those credentials.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced customer service office environment. Some nights and weekends as needed.
