SUMMARY
Greenhill School seeks a dynamic and inspirational educator to assist with its all-school Service Learning and Community Engagement program. In line with the School's vision to see students reach their full potential while inspiring hope in the world, service at Greenhill seeks to leverage its myriad resources to partner with local and global nonprofit organizations to tackle real-world challenges, create positive change, and to instill an authentic sense of serving others and the community.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position, with time split evenly between Service Learning and as a member of our teaching faculty. Some evening and weekend work is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- With the Director ofService Learning & Community Engagement,
- identify key needs, opportunities, and potential partnerships to inform program strategy;
- lead, plan, and facilitate Service Learning and Community Engagement programs, classes, experiences, and activities that support the School's mission, core values, and vision;
- collaborate with academic division heads to seek and facilitate opportunities for Service Learning to be woven authentically into the academic experience;
- work with educators in each academic division to create and deliver developmentally appropriate Service Learning and/or Community Engagement experiences for/with students;
- develop and implement an experiential engagement strategy that drives towards the department's objectives;
- coordinate and manage the deliverables of the Service Learning & Community Engagement office including but not limited to managing upper school service hours and tracking and reporting on key program outcomes;
- work with parents and alumni to build more ownership, involvement and knowledge of the program;
- support daily programs both on and off campus for Pre-K-12 involving Service Learning, Community Engagement, and community service;
- manage and provide transportation (such as drive the Greenhill bus) for off campus Service Learning and Community Engagement programs;
- serve as a school ambassador to cultivate relationships and secure partnerships with nonprofit organizations, NGOs, foundations, community leaders in the issue space, and others who support the programmatic initiatives;
- teach two academic courses in the Middle and/or Upper School.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- possess a bachelor's degree;
- have an authentic and inspiring zeal for leading both students and faculty to find appropriate opportunities for service and engagement in the broader community;
- have teaching experience across many age levels (including early childhood and/or elementary) in an independent, public, or charter school setting;
- have experience leading service programs in a school or other nonprofit setting;
- possess experience with community outreach and strong interest in social impact issues;
- ability to organize the myriad details for, and when appropriate, leading, projects ranging from small groups to whole grade levels;
- possess strong verbal and written communication skills, confidence and self-motivation, and aptitude for relationship management with colleagues across campus;
- have either existing networks of local connections with service agencies or demonstrated ability to cultivate deep connections that offer myriad service experiences for students, employees, families, and alumni;
- have successful project management and event planning experience;
- have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (e.g., familiarity with concepts; evidence of relevant personal growth; examples of relevant practice, etc.).
