Primary Purpose: Direct, manage and monitor functions, programs and operations of the custodial services department, facility rentals, and energy management. Oversee the annual operating budget, administer departmental policies and procedures and lead the recruiting, hiring and placement of assigned staff. Establishes work schedules and procedures to maintain a high standard of safety and efficiency of building operations.
Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification): Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in management and supervision, a valid Texas driver’s license, and able to qualify as a driver under the district’s insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
Major Responsibilities: 1. Manages all aspects of the Custodial Department. 2. Manages and supervises HVAC supporting staff responsible for HVAC controls and scheduling for all District facilities for both normal operations and after-hours use, troubleshooting HVAC concerns and serving as a liaison between the campus and HVAC staff. This staff member also reviews District utility bills to confirm rates, charges, track usage, cost and savings, and manages waste pick-up schedules. 3. Track work order efficiencies through the work order system. 4. Manages Facility Rentals Department. 5. Provides advisory assistance in regards to equipment and facility needs and conditions. 6. Assists in the selection of staff; performs periodic evaluations of subordinates and recommends and implements discipline, as required. 7. Ensures that safety training is provided to staff and that proper safety practices are followed 8. Inspects all schools on a regular basis to ensure a safe and desirable condition for learning. 9. Assist with setting annual departmental budgets and long-range planning as assigned. 10. Ensures that safety training is provided to staff and that proper safety practices are followed Assists in budget planning and maintaining M & O budget. 11. Researches, negotiates with suppliers and makes purchases. 12. Responds to emergencies as requested; coordinates activities with other responders; directs the work of staff and utilization of resources to affect repair and ensure the safety of the community. 13. Works closely with the Executive Director of Facilities and Support Services to manage department policies and procedures. 14. Work with other departments to manage emergency situations that occur throughout the year. 15. On call for departmental emergencies. May be required to perform custodial, facility rentals, or energy management related duties, as needed. 16. Ensures that safety training is provided to staff and that proper safety practices are followed on all jobs by PfISD staff, our vendors and contractors. 17. Develops and maintains technical documentation. 18. Communicates effectively with the public, staff members, students, parents and administrators using tact and good judgment in resolving facility issues. 19. Performs other duties as assigned.
