Description

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, managerial position, and days of work and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week) and individuals in this role have no claim or entitlement to time off or cash compensation for hours worked beyond their normal schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Compensatory time will not be granted for work done as an extension of the regular work day. It is the policy of the College to grant hour for hour compensatory time off, with advance approval, only when employees are required to work on a holiday. Time earned must be used within one fiscal year from the time it is earned.
Salary: $95,000-$110,000
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Web Administration works closely with the Director of Marketing and the entire marketing team to manage and advance the College's public website and the College's intranet (ramapo.edu and web.ramapo.edu). The ideal candidate will contribute a deep understanding of best practices in user experience and website development to ensure content aligns with the College's brand, messaging and marketing strategies. This includes administration of the content management system (WordPress), coordinating site architecture, aligning best practices in web and digital media services for marketing campaigns, and serving as a liaison between the department and web-using stakeholders.
The role is key to developing and reviewing content for appropriateness, monitoring/reporting analytic data, developing content for the homepage and other key areas of the site. The Assistant Director will serve as a critical role supporting departmental page owners to help bridge their needs with the website enterprise. This included managing projects like: page development, creating forms, processing images, providing clear and concise documentation and creating URL redirects.
The Assistant Director must be comfortable multitasking and working collaboratively on short-term and long-term projects with tight deadlines. The Assistant Director will be involved with developing graphic design, photography, video and multimedia content to support the varied projects of the office. This may include working with third party vendors to help manage creative projects.
Examples of Duties
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day-to-day updates and ongoing upgrades to Ramapo's website, including: including the implementation of content plans, content strategy, and SEO optimization to align with the College's brand and strategic goals.
  • Works with the Marketing and Web team to assess new design requirements.
  • Creates designs, concepts, and sample graphic layouts. Prepare draft designs, wireframes, and/or storyboards for projects. Assemble final digital layouts for online publication.
  • Creates data visualizations, original illustrations, logos, Final Cut Pro X videos, website graphics, PowerPoint presentations and expands Ramapo's portfolio with any newly-developed industry products.
  • Reviews final layouts for accuracy and creativity and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Confers with Marketing and Web Department to discuss and determine designs.
  • Participates in design and requirement meetings in order to advise and guide discussion related to design principles and technical design issues; takes the lead on digital and graphic design elements.
  • Creates and upkeeps documentation plans, production schedules, and web governance procedures.
  • Stays current on industry graphics and new digital media products.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Excellent skills in illustration, typography, and layout. Proven ability to identify and interpret digital design needs and develop creative responsive design concepts. Ability to read and interpret technical information in order to translate to a design work product.
  • Outside the box thinking, creativity and grasp of IT concepts.
  • Proven ability to come up with unusual and clever ideas about a given situation and develop creative ways to solve a problem.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, as well as Final Cut and After Affects.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, writing, and technical skills. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs, multiple priorities and short deadlines.

Typical Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of web design, web development, digital marketing and media. Understanding and application of graphic design best practices. Strong understanding of information display and hierarchy.
  • Knowledge of web standards, accessibility compliance, technology trends, online marketing and website design best practices.
  • Ability to analyze web traffic data, trends and opportunities; provide analysis and feedback about strategic efforts.
  • Knowledge of front-end web technologies, HTML, CSS, Javascript.
  • Knowledge of the use of a web content management system.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change in procedures and priorities.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere.
  • Experience in AE motion graphics.
  • Experience in digital storytelling.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Passionate about using technology as an integrative marketing tool.
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
