Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.


Planned Parenthood Federation of America is seeking a Senior Director, Affiliate Engagement. This position reports to the National Director, Affiliate Engagementin the Federation Leadership and Engagement department in the New Ops/Federation Engagement & Impact Division of PPFA.  


PURPOSE:

The Senior Director will lead the Affiliate Resource Team (ART), a multi-disciplinary team consisting of subject-matter experts in affiliate operations. The Senior Director provides consulting, training, and thought-partnership to affiliates in response to new affiliate senior leadership, accreditation findings, and support for brand risk situations. They are responsible for advising on and/or coordinating resources pertaining to aspects of financial consulting, affiliate operations and management. They will identify and build strategies, tools, and best practices to ensure optimal results. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the affiliate resource team in implementing consulting services and the development of resources.


Provide expert guidance, consultation, and support to affiliate senior leaders on a wide range of operational issues, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and compliance.


Collaborate with internal departments to review quality assurance and performance improvements related to health center operations, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, regulations, and organizational policies.


Utilizing data and performance metrics to monitor trends, identify areas for improvement, and track progress towards key financial elements of performance.


Identifies and oversees the development of tools that will result in assisting affiliates in achieving their desired results in operations, profitability, and revenue cycle.


Supports the Accreditation and Quality Committee (AQC) and consults on affiliate financial performance, as needed.


Leads scoping process for financial assessment engagements (FASE) with affiliates, reviews all MOUs, recommendations and implementation support.


Develop and deliver training, resources, and tools to build capacity and enhance the skills of affiliate financial staff.


Advances affiliate relationships by coordinating the monthly affiliate CFO calls; provides presentations, and together, identifies emerging issues and trends.


Maintains a constant awareness of both internal and external variables, including health care trends, insurance and reimbursement changes and legal and regulatory issues. Share learnings with team members in actionable formats.


Works collaboratively with the leaders of the other units in a way that supports the strategic and operational objectives of the department and engages with internal and external consultants as needed.


Informs and keeps current with the Accreditation Indicators and Elements of Performance in order to support affiliates.


Carries out other assignments or special projects as assigned and required. 



SUPERVISION:

Direct supervisory responsibility of staff. Oversees work of vendors, consultants or outside contractors to ensure work meets deadlines and quality standards.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ,AND ABILITIES (KSAs):


Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.  (Master's degree preferred). Bachelor's Degree preferred; plus additional related college courses or professional training in health care finance, revenue cycle or related field.


Minimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience in healthcare operations, preferably in a multi-site healthcare organization or network


Previous Planned Parenthood experience is strongly preferred.


Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in clinical operations.


Ability to think strategically and develop key performance indicators for oneself and team.


Demonstrated track record of strategic planning, program development, and performance improvement


Proven track record of leading and mentoring team members.


RELATED SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE:


  Advance knowledge in revenue cycle; financial and operations analysis. 


Advance knowledge of medical practice management and quality assurance and an understanding of customer service and market issues.


Ability to provide confidential and sensitive guidance that is accurate and honest to affiliate executive staff and/or boards of directors.


Strong interpersonal, communications, problem-solving and negotiation skills are required.


Strong project management and business analytic skills with sharp attention to detail and the ability to meet critical deadlines.


Ability to establish credibility with all levels of staff. 


Excellent customer service orientation is required. 


Self-motivator with ability to control own schedule and an independent decision-maker.


Knowledge of diverse groups, experience working with a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity and appreciation to cultural differences is required.


A commitment to reproductive health and rights.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
