As a part of Orientation and Student Success, within the Division of Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director for New Student Orientation oversees a comprehensive set of new student orientation programs and services which acclimate students and families with Wright State's academic advising and registration, campus visit programs and connections to the University.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to three years of relevant professional experience in a Higher Education environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills; excellent organization and attention to detail; must work as a collaborative team member.
  • Experience administering relevant student programs and services.
  • Experience with university computer systems and similar computer technologies, i.e. BANNER Admin, EAB-Navigate, Slate, learning management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Essential Functions and percent of time:
Facilitate New Student Orientation. Conduct ongoing assessment of program effectiveness and implement recommendations for continuous improvement. Collaborate with enrollment management departments on yield, communications and events. (25%)

Recruit, select, train and supervise student employees serving in the role of New Student Orientation ambassadors. (20%)

Work closely with Director of Academic Advising to ensure the delivery of academic advising and course registration during New Student Orientation. Collaborate with academic advisors to design interactive advising sessions with new students. (15%)

Work closely with Enrollment Management and Marketing to develop student and family communication plans for New Student Orientation including print publications, emails, social media and websites. Work collaboratively with Raider Connect and Financial Aid staff regarding financial planning and bill pay information and processes. Work collaboratively with Placement Testing, First Year Programs and Success Coaches. (15%)

Understand and utilize data systems for provision of services and analysis of outcomes, including Slate, EAB-Navigate and others. Generate and analyze reports to track course registration and student outcomes. (15%)

Stay current on high-impact practices in the field of New Student Orientation and First-Year Experience, implementing best practices for new student transition and retention. (10%)
