Job Description
The Assistant Director for Alumni Career Services West Coast will coordinate career programs and services for alumni, focusing efforts on the West Coast. This includes career guidance and counseling, connections to jobs, networking opportunities, corporate connection initiatives, and professional development programming. They will work closely with the Associate Director of Alumni Career Services to enhance opportunities for career development, alumni networking, engagement, and employer connections with focus on the West Coast. They will provide 1:1 support to alumni, assist with sourcing and managing the #HireOrange alumni job board, and coordinate professional development programming for alumni in various stages of their career development programming.
This position is eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred, preferably in higher education, counseling, human resources or similar.
  • Experience with human resources and/or career development services including coaching/advising, workshops and presentations.
  • Proven ability to develop and enhance relationships across diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communications, collaboration and leadership.
  • Keen understanding of technological applications for Career Services, alumni relations, data management and communications.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Certifications or training in career development or personality assessments, such as MBTI, Strengths Finder, Strong, etc.
  • Familiarity with job market trends and effective and useful career development strategies. Experience with LinkedIn.
  • Knowledge of various technology resources relevant to career development, job searching, networking, social media, and data gathering and analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one career advising to SU alumni with networking and job strategies, career transition support, and connections to job opportunities and fellow alumni. Provide expertise for navigating the job market or career transitions in a variety of industries. Offer guidance over the phone, virtually, recorded, etc.
  • Facilitate professional development programming including networking events, corporate connection opportunities, and alum-alum mentoring. Present a wide variety of virtual offerings, providing professional development to alumni domestically and internationally. Research and secure Alumni Career and life coaches and experienced professionals as presenters and panelists. Oversee/Direct Alumni Career Coach program.
  • Provide direction/ assist in sourcing, promoting, and sharing job opportunities on the #HireOrange job board. This includes identifying employer partnerships, promoting the resource to the alumni networks and tracking outcomes based on opportunities posted and shared to the job board. Develop corporate relationships in multiple industries, connecting with HR professionals to increase hiring opportunities for alumni.
  • Collaborate internally with the communications and events teams to effectively plan and market career programs to various populations. Contribute to venue research and selection as well as connecting individually with alumni via LinkedIn messaging and monthly marketing emails. Collaborate with fellow career colleagues on campus to further promote career offerings to alumni.
  • Support the assessment, tracking and reporting processes and dashboard creation to measure career event participation and program effectiveness. Track all appointments to include purpose, outcomes, and follow-up needs. This includes daily and weekly CRM database updates for all constituent contacts, event participation, cultivation initiatives, etc.
