Position Summary

Camp Lutherwood Oregon is seeking a full-time (30-40 hours per week) Assistant Cook/Dishwasher to provide food service for the outdoor school and summer camp seasons. The kitchen is the hub of camp and provides opportunities to extend hospitality to all our guests. The Assistant Cook/Dishwasher is vital to providing exceptional food service.

The Assistant Cook/Dishwasher is responsible for preparing and serving of food at assigned meals. This position requires professionalism, diligently upholding all kitchen policies and following all food handling procedures in a safe and consistent manner. The Assistant Cook/Dishwasher works closely with the Food Service Director carrying out all kitchen duties as assigned.

Previous experience in a professional or private kitchen is preferred along with the ability to use knives and other equipment to quickly and safely process food for cooking. Baking experience preferred.

Reliable transportation is a must for this position as public transportation is not available to camp. It is necessary to have a clean background check as this position works in close proximity with children.

Qualifications summary

· Baking experience preferred

· Previous experience in a professional kitchen, or experience in a private kitchen preferred. Ability to use knives and other kitchen equipment to quickly and safely process food for cooking

· Flexibility to adapt to regularly changing circumstances

· Able to follow both spoken and written instructions and gain new skills quickly.

· Excellent communication skills

· Help unload and store supplies

· Assist with kitchen clean up as assigned

· Ability to work well with multiple kitchen staff and alone

Start Date: March 28, 2024 through August 12, 2024 with the option to extend for the fall outdoor school season.

Position Status: Full-time (30-40 hours per week), non-exempt, seasonal may include evenings and weekends

Compensation: $22/hour

Experience: Restaurant experience: 1-2 year (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

Physical Expectations:
Ability to stand for 8hrs a day, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, bend over, reach and pull. Adept in punctuality and to follow directions.
