TSINY, a non-profit Mental Health Services Agency seeks Assistant Controller for its Residential Program, located in Queens (Whitestone) NY.
Salary: $65,000 Annual
Position Summary
Facilitate the distribution, management and documentation of projects as requested of agency’s financial information. Responsible to the Controller for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department in an efficient and effective manner.
Essential Functions
Primarily responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day management of the accounting department, including, but not limited to:
• Monitoring all cash receipt and disbursement activities.
• Assist the Controller in reviewing and updating accounting policies and procedures.
• Review, reconcile, and adjust, as necessary, all balance sheet accounts to ensure they are all up- to-date.
• Assist in performing and completing the month-end closing process for TSI Agency.
• Assist in the preparation and review of year-end audit working papers
• Provide on-call technical accounting guidance and training on using accounting software applications.
• Assist in providing accurate financial information to outside sources, as needed.
• Work together with the Controller in problem-solving with strict attention to detail.
• Work with the accounting team to be the backup in different accounting areas as needed.
• Work with the accounting team to create accurate financial reports, internal controls, and policies.
• Handle special projects as assigned.
General
• Be able to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Experience/Education/Skills/Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business and five years’ continuous experience. Facility with Excel, Word, and accounting software, preferably Xledger. Knowledge of and experience in not-for-profit operations and accounting. Be meticulous and organized, demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, and be discrete in dealing with financial and human resource matters. Strong communication skills.
