OVERVIEW:
We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller for a growing international food manufacturer at their primary facility in Los Angeles, CA. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller will oversee the financial and accounting operations, ensuring precise and punctual financial reporting and control. Responsibilities include managing the general ledger reconciliation, Cost Accounting, financial budgeting and forecasting, and overseeing the accounting systems. This role will supervise three accounting staff members. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting, with a strong proficiency in Cost Accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:
Develop the plant budget through communication with departmental leaders.
Oversee month and year-end closing procedures and generate various operational reports.
Manage and supervise Cost Accounting functions.
Review manufacturing operations to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Analyze results and identify potential risks, providing suggestions to management.
Educate and assist departmental leaders from a financial perspective to enhance decision-making.
Collaborate across organizational boundaries and engage with individuals at all levels within the company to achieve both plant and corporate objectives.
Implement and oversee internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
Ensure proper accounting practices in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Monitor plant compliance with internal financial/operational controls, including SOX-related requirements.
Handle other special projects as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Experience in Cost Accounting
Experience in food manufacturing industry is a plus.
