Position Summary:
Operating in a fast-paced environment which is experiencing growth and change, the Assistant Controller is responsible for all areas relating to general ledger accounting functions. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The Assistant Controller provides supervision to assigned accounting staff and is responsible to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position must meet deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Assistant Controller will have contact with the senior level management team which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

Pay Disclosure:
The starting base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 annually. The actual base is dependent on many factors such as: work experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Job Location: Hybrid in office located in Santa Ana, CA: 3 days per week in office / 2 days from home.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day and month-end accounting functions
- Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end general ledger close.
- Assist in the timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial information.
- Perform variance analysis and trend information related to revenues and expenses.
- Support budget and forecasting activities.
- Work closely with company managers to resolve questions and issues.
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
- Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Support the controller regarding special projects.
- Other projects & reports as needed.
Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting role; prior mortgage banking experience is required.
- Up to date knowledge of accounting pronouncements.
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong technical aptitude for learning new software and systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Mail, Word and PowerPoint) with advanced knowledge of Excel.
Work Authorization:
Must be able to verify identity and employment eligibility to work in the U.S. without a visa sponsorship.
