GENERAL INFORMATION: Human Development and Family Science (HDFS). HDFS is one of the largest departments in the university, with approximately 30 full-time faculty members, 325 undergraduate students, and 55 graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.). Faculty in HDFS have active programs of research and currently have projects funded by diverse State and Federal entities including NIH, USDA, and NSF totaling over $10,000,000 for 2023. Undergraduate specializations are offered in Child and Family Services (CFS), Early Childhood Education (ECE is ranked seventh nationally among the 25 Best Early Childhood Education Bachelor's Programs according to Bachelor's Degree Center), Family and Consumer Sciences education (FACSED), and Opportunity Orange Scholars (inclusive post-secondary education for students with intellectual disability).

Graduate specializations are offered in Applied Human Services (AHS), Developmental and Family Science (DVFS), Early Childhood Education (ECE), Gerontology (GERO), and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Recent graduates with terminal degrees (B.S. with ECE option, M.S. with MFT and CFS options, and Ph.D.) have experienced near-100% success in finding relevant employment and in passing licensing exams.
The department has formed several outstanding centers, including the Child Development Laboratory, Center for Family Resilience, Center for Immigrant Health and Education, and Center for Developmental Disabilities. HDFS is also the home of a Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic. The department is home to seven endowed faculty professorships or chairs. Consistent with the land-grant emphasis on scholarship dissemination, members of the faculty work with community partners in regional agencies and with Cooperative Extension educators in all 77 counties in Oklahoma. Additionally, Oklahoma ranks fifth in the country for Pre-K access for 4-year-olds, according to the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER). Oklahoma also scores among the top 11 states in the nation for quality Pre-K programs. For more information about the department, its faculty, centers, and programs, please go to: https://education.okstate.edu/departments-programs/human-development-family- science/index.html

Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics (REMS). REMS serves students from the college and university and offers graduate courses and certificates in advanced methodological areas. REMS consists of three faculty members who teach courses such as Structural Equation Modeling, Item Response, Theory, Multilevel Modeling, and Multivariate Statistics. REMS is one of the highest student credit hour producing programs in the college due to our diverse student population and because almost every program within the college requires their students to complete REMS courses for their graduate degree.
