Job Summary:
As an Assembly Eng. Tech, you create, update, and maintain assembly work instructions. You will be expected to work with assemblies, technical documents, design engineering & assemblers to make efficient work processes & work flows. This role requires critical analysis & creativity to develop assembly processes & assist in designing fixtures to improve assembly efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work hands on or computationally to collect data from technical documents, engineering, leads, and production staff to develop clear and concise assembly instructions.
- Supports, develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods for assembly operations.
- Process PIF’s that pertain to bill of materials, assembly instructions, work instructions, etc.
- Support new product development and engineering change orders with the documentation updates that are needed.
- Assist design engineering in developing well designed, reliable & aesthetically pleasing assemblies.
- Improve manufacturing processes through innovation, Technology and continuous improvement processes.
- Enter and update methods of manufacture in ERP.
- Works directly with manufacturing engineers on fixture designs and may support manufacturing Engineer in CAD design of fixtures.
- Working with Sales and Engineering to develop Installation instructions.
- Help review and select new technology that gives Suburban a competitive advantage.
- Manage labels and their format for inventory, identification and customer specific identification.
- Create programs as required for laser engraver.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities (KSA’s):
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions as well as the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. In addition, the Assembly Eng. Tech must have the ability to write reports, write detailed installation and work instructions, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as well as the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Must have background and/ or ability to learn, Epicor ERP, MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, SolidWorks, Composer, Visio, Document management (vault), as well as a working knowledge of computers, scanners, digital cameras, and file structures.
- Ability to understand, pull details from and in some instances create technical documents included but not limited to; assembly instructions, blueprints, CAD models and CAD assemblies. Be able to manage your time to meet or exceed the requirements of the production floor or project deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Exposure to sights, sounds, and smells associated with a machine shop production environment.
- Working in a manufacturing environment.
