TITLE: ART TEACHER
POSITION SUMMARY OR PURPOSE
To create a flexible art program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing art education in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members, while developing in each pupil an interest, ability and creativity in visual, hands-on, and digital utilizing skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the medium.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Colorado Certification with an endorsement in either Elementary/Secondary Art Education or alternative as approved by the superintendent and ASD Board of Education.
- Good communication skills and strong work ethic.
- Experience working with all school level students.
- Partnership building/teamwork skills
The teacher shall hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. - Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Website, Social Media, Webinar and Meeting platforms, and digital media/art programs.

DECISION MAKING: An example of a typical decision made by an individual in this position is to implement best practice and design lessons for high growth and achievement. Decisions for time-management must be made to effectively plan, grade, contact parents, and provide guidance to aides.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general classroom procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from parents, community members, colleagues and principal.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in teaching and learning. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff
and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires periods of light physical activity and requires long periods of time standing and/or walking. Most of the work is performed in the office setting. Typically the position requires the employee to work in a classroom environment; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally, use of specific content-based terminology, and use of normal or aided vision and hearing.

JOB GOAL
To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the District office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including crafts, drawing, painting, lettering, design, commercial art, art history, and/or three-dimensional art to secondary pupils, utilizing Colorado Academic Standards and courses adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
- Provides instruction by which pupils develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
- Demonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing, painting and modeling, using standard and/or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
- Plans and presents art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit pupils' work for the school and the community.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials with best instructional and engagement practices designed into the lesson.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional development activities.
- Attend faculty meetings, grade level meetings and other committees as instructed by the principal, working collaboratively with team planning.
- Adhere to budgetary limits, prepare electronic requisitions and classroom budgets for instructional supplies and maintain inventory records.
- Follow Elementary and Secondary Teacher job descriptions.
- Complete year-end building check-out checklist denoting completion of all requirements.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
SALARY: Based upon the District's adopted salary schedule.
WORK SCHEDULE: 7:45 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Mon-Thursday/Duty Days: 7:35 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
WORK YEAR: 152 days per year as designated by the annual school calendar.
