The opportunity:
The Area Operations Manager (AOM) is primarily responsible for supporting the Vice President of Operations with the day-to-day management of our amazing care teams, executing on specific program developments, care team rollouts, and other operational projects to drive the success of BetterVet. This position is a great opportunity for someone with experience in multi-site management who wants to apply their skills in the veterinary startup space. We're on a mission to provide a better veterinary experience for pets, their families, and our veterinary care providers through mobile veterinary services, and the AOM plays a key role in achieving that goal.
* THIS IS A REMOTE BASED POSITION WITH UP TO 50% TRAVEL
What you'll do:
- Serve as the on-the-ground BetterVet coach and champion for our mobile veterinary care teams
- Visit and work with your care teams in the field. (Estimated travel 50% of the time)
- Act as the first point of contact for teams in the field in the event of a problem in their day (ie: flat tire, issue with equipment etc.) and manage their schedule change needs
- Be a point of contact for Care Teams for operational, scheduling, HR, and technology concerns
- Lead performance management and reviews of care team employees, with the support of your VP and the National Medical Director
- Ensure the Care Team employment schedules are managed effectively, including monitoring and approving PTO and timecard activities
- Organize relief coverage for doctors and technicians
- Partner with Care Team Liaisons to manage daily schedules
- Onboarding and Training including areas covered, scheduling, programming and conducting follow-ups and check-ins for Care Teams
- Support in rollout and communication of BetterVet initiatives and act as liaison for other BetterVet teams
- Partner with Operations team on regional projects, priorities, goals, and needs
- Communicate via multiple platforms (Google Chat, email, text, phone, etc.) to support your region
- Be available to manage the above during extended work-day hours and weekends
You'll be a great fit if you:
- Have 2 plus years of multi-site operations management experience (required)
- Have a high level of team engagement and a "culture-first" approach
- Possess a balance of data driven decision making with a high level of emotional intelligence
- Have the ability to navigate unique and different cultures in a decentralized environment
- Possess a self-directed attitude and an ability to work independently; take ownership and meet or exceed deadlines
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and use digital platforms effectively extensively
- Demonstrate sound judgment and employ effective and fair decision-making abilities with those you manage and work with
- Take a problem-solving, think outside the box approach to challenges, particularly when it comes to technology and performance management optimization
Expectations of Time & Travel:
- This is a remote based position. You must live in your service area, the state of California.
- An estimated 50% of your time will be spent traveling to meet with your care teams.
