Anatomy & Physiology Instructor ALS

 

Department: College of Emergency Services

Location: Oregon and Washington

JOB SUMMARY: 

Conducts, evaluates and revises primary programs of Anatomy and Physiology training and education, providing overall course responsibility for Paramedic students.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confers with operation management, field personnel, healthcare providers and the NCTI Regional Director/Lead Instructor/Manager, Academic Services to maintain current knowledge of clinical demands and work expectations in the out-of-hospital setting.
  • Consults with the NCTI Regional Director/Lead Instructor/Manager, Academic Services to formulate teaching outlines and determines instructional methods such as lectures, laboratory demonstrations, clinical opportunities and field internships, as well as individual remedial or tutorial programs.
  • Consultation with the NCTI Regional Director/Lead Instructor/Manager, Academic Services to select or develop teaching aids such as textbooks, training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, etc.
  • Conducts and/or supervises classroom didactic sessions covering specified areas required by course objective/curriculum, statute, or regulation and consistent with current science and accepted standards of clinical practice in the out-of-hospital setting.
  • Measures student's cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning and evaluates effectiveness of training.
  • Oversee fiscal responsibilities with regard to equipment recommendations for purchase, equipment maintenance and inventory control, as well as direct management and oversight of the labor budget for each individual program of instruction, inclusive of the use of laboratory instructors and teaching assistants.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone’s responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered.  Report information systems security problems.

 

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Licensing/Certification:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a health related field or education or equivalent education and experience is required.
  • A Master’s Degree, or substantial and on-going progress toward obtaining a Master’s degree is Required.
  • Current state licensure or certification as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Physician's Assistant, or Physician is preferred, but not required. National Registration as an EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P) and Instructor Certifications in BCLS, ACLS, AMLS, GEMS, PALS or PEPP and PHTLS or BTLS are also preferred, but not required
  • As required by location, must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with the AMR Safety and Driving policy.

 

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years academic instructor experience in the college A&P setting during the last five (5) years is preferred.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to write educational and grade reports, professional correspondence and clinical and internship procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of students, managers and the general public.
  • Ability to lead and supervise psychomotor skills training and ability to provide a portion of course lecture materials is required.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as pass/fail percentages, grading curve adjustments, proportions, percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
