JOB SUMMARY:
The Area General Manager is responsible for managing the hands-on operational aspects of the company. Through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company, the Area General Manager along with the President/CEO provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively operate the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. You will manage the company’s day-to-day operating activities, including expense, cost, margin control, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goals management. In addition, you will lead the development, implementation, and successful execution of business contracts and custom geographic diversification, along with the expansion of core competencies. This position does also offer a company vehicle.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Recruit, interview, hire and develop team member’s performance providing regular and timely assessment.
· Setting the “Leadership” example through fair HR practices by mentoring and motivating teams.
· Strengthening the team through employee relations – creating an environment of expression and engagement.
· Demonstrate continuous ability to maintain and /or improve client satisfaction.
· Advocate and maintain a strong commitment to safety in the operating process.
· Direct company operations to meet budget and other financial goals.
· Direct short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic business goals.
· Establish performance goals, allocate resources, and assess policies for senior management.
· Demonstrate successful execution of business strategies for company services.
· Safety component: creating a safety driver culture.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory, administrative, and legal requirements including promoting a safety-first culture to support overall business objectives and plans.
· Develop, establish, and direct execution of operating policies to support overall company policies and objectives.
· Provide day-to-day leadership and management to a transportation organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company.
· Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives as well as achieving operating Key Performance Indicators.
· Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external. Provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
· Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective operating strategies and processes.
· Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of our organization.
· Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the executive team not currently in place; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.
· Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
· Successful management of safety and maintenance resources to support company operations.
· Maintaining an adequate Driver hiring program (ie… a minimum of 1.25 Drivers per bus).
· Achieving operating KPI’s for operations by year-end.
· Maintain positive business relations with the Dallas/Corporate support teams.
EXPECTATIONS OF AREA GENERAL MANAGER:
· Possess knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to Motorcoach Operators including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Rules.
· Ability to recognize and pursue incremental secondary turnarounds and on-site shuttle opportunities within your local geographical area pertaining to contractual duties.
· Reduce accidents per million miles.
· Maintain average Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) at target.
· Manage company customer contract(s) as assigned.
· Possess skills in maximizing his or her potential to promote productivity and positive morale.
· Possess computer skills to meet job requirements.
· Solid understanding and respect for the differences of roles between management, supervisory and line personnel.
· Ability to interface with Motorcoach Operators, operations, and management.
· Knowledgeable regarding business entity’s relationship with clients.
· Ability to command the respect of his/her peers within the organization.
· Visible in the community and capable of communicating him/herself in a manner that generates respect and understanding for US Crew Change.
· A person possessing those traits of honesty, integrity, creativity, and flexibility that are essential to the position.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Solid working knowledge of budgeting, operating plans, and strategic planning.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific, technical journals and legal documents pertaining to the management of chemicals, hazardous waste, and agency regulations.
- 10+ years of experience, with 5 years in a general management role.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Familiarity with the safety and regulatory requirements of the transportation industry is a definite plus.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school or GED required.
- College and University degree desired.
