Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monthly close for 3 small boutique hotels: including Hotel Les Mars, Farmhouse Inn, and MacArthur Place in Sonoma, CA. This includes general ledger activities, getting books in order, cash forecasting and more.
- Establish and Monitor Financial Systems: create, monitor, and evaluate financial systems. Collect, analyze, verify, and report financial information to document our company’s financial performance and position the company and upper management and stakeholders to make well-informed financial decisions.
- Meet Financial Objectives: Recommend forecasting requirements, draft annual budgets, and project expenditures to prepare periodic statements and meet financial regulatory requirements. Analyze general ledger variances and suggest corrective action for management's approval to meet annual accounting financial objectives.
- Achieve Operational Objectives: Develop action plans, audit operations, and propose efficiency improvements. Effectively lead the accounting team to provide accurate, timely data and recommendations.
- Monitor Revenue and Expenses: Ensure company’s financial wellbeing by tracking revenue and expenses, consolidating and analyzing financial data, preparing special reports, maintaining internal controls and other best practices, and reporting activity to internal and external customers.
- Lead one on-site accountant: Effectively lead and supervise one on-site accountant at MacArthur Place, conduct performance evaluations, coordinate training programs, and identify training needs.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare financial statements, allowing the business to make strategic decisions about resource allocation.
- Microsoft Excel: use Microsoft Excel to streamline data. Some duties include automating repetitive tasks, creating financial models, and streamlining data analysis.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP: Understand GAAP and its implications, using it to guide the recording and preparation of financial statements, ensuring they are accurate and complete. Utilize GAAP standards to guarantee disclosures and properly describe a firm's financial position and performance.
- Financial Close Experience: Completes all financial transactions for the month, quarter, and year for all 3 boutique hotels (totaling 104 rooms) to ensure financial statements accurately represent the reporting period. Responsible for uncovering errors or discrepancies recorded in the financial statements before publication.
- Management: This role manages one person. Bring key management and supervisory skills to the role in order to allow yourself to plan and organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks. Additionally, help leaders communicate effectively with team members to resolve conflicts and make decisions aligned with company priorities.
- Communication: Effectively communicate financial information to employees, shareholders, and other interested parties; simplify complex financial concepts, build relationships with key stakeholders, and prepare concise financial reports that accurately reflect organizations' financial health.
- Eye for Detail: Accurately track and record financial transactions, using a keen eye for detail to find and correct discrepancies. This information helps the company make important financial and operational decisions. Thus, it is essential that financial transactions and reports are accurate.
- Organizational Skills: Use strong organizational and time management skills to track and prioritize ongoing projects and tasks. Effectively launch, monitor, and evaluate accounting operations and deliverables.
- Adaptability: able and willing to be adaptable in the ever-changing hospitality and food & beverage industries. This includes but is not limited to engaging with customers, hotel guests and internal team members on inquiries, willing to be a team member and help out where needed, a high-degree of decorum and customer service experience and more.
