Cookbook Market & Cafe on Larchmont is looking an is looking for an Assistant General Manager to join our team!
The ideal candidate will have previous grocery or retail management experience!
A potential candidate must have previous experience in management and a strong ability to multitask and take the lead. We are looking for an Assistant General Manager who has a desire to dive right in, maintain systems and high standards and help take Cookbook to the next level. Applicants must thrive in a family environment and love guiding guests through an exceptional experience.
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for providing a positive guest experience for all customers, ensuring the cleanliness of the facilities, maintaining a professional, positive working environment for all employees, and the following:
- Arrive and leave on time in accordance with daily tasks
- Dress appropriately every day for work
- Assist GM with administrative tasks and other duties
- Oversee organization and maintenance of storefront, storage areas and office
- Lead the organization and maintenance of the cafe operations
- Understand labor management and ensure that hourly staff abides by break laws
- Develop a good working knowledge of the financial aspects of the restaurant including the PCL, Petty Cash Sheet, Inventory documents and Inventory Reporting
- Communicate all challenges that arise on a daily basis with GM
- Master café steps of service and maintain oversight of excellence
- Communicate with Chef and kitchen staff regarding menu changes, counts, and day to day needs
- Oversee and maintain BTG and drink service
- Oversee day to day operations of both the market and cafe operations
- Manage and train employees to utilize the waitlist feature of Resy
- Ensure a hospitable experience for all guests and maintain a high standard of hospitality
- Thoughtfully describe all store items and help standardize shareable knowledge with staff ● Be physically present in the storefront and cafe as needed to support hourly staff
- Assist GM in interviewing, hiring, onboarding new employees
- Assist GM with conducting bi-yearly performance reviews
- Assist GM with schedule writing week to week
- Assist GM with training shopkeep, barista, cafe, and produce
- Master doordash, toast, and resy platforms to assist in running smooth FOH operations
- Mater the wine program for both the Cafe and Retail categories
- Master receiving and inventory protocols for grocery, wine, meat, cheese, and retail
- Ensure new employees are trained effectively
- Communicate with all buyers in every department and be able to assist in ordering, receiving, merchandising, and inventory as necessary
- Participate in departmental system development with management team to streamline tasks
- Uphold high standards for food quality control and Food Safety Standards
- Maintain accountability amongst staff
- Oversee and ensure all opening and closing checklists are done properly
- Work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain a positive, team-oriented, respectful mentality.
- Other duties as assigned.
