Our Quality Assurance (QA) team is seeking someone who is available to train as an Apprentice Lab Technician for Night Shift. You will learn various test methods which include adding our color pigments to coatings and plastics to perform in-process sample testing. You’ll be working in a fast-paced lab environment with important decisions being made every day, so the ability to complete your assigned tasks quickly and work in a collaborative environment is essential.
Pay starts at $27.04 + $1.25 shift differential
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee quality results of product
- Match in-process samples with standard colors to determine production operations
- Operate lab equipment, such as a spectrophotometer, 2-roll mills, and speed mixers, to get results used in decision making
- Record test results accurately in our online tracking system
- Communicate results and other information with lab team and production in a timely manner
- Physical Property testing (conductivity, pH, particle size, density, oil absorption, moisture)
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift 45lbs
- Must be able to wear a respirator
- Must be able to work in a hot environment
- Must be willing to work any shift
Education/Experience
- Associate degree in Chemistry or other laboratory-based science preferred but not required
- Prior laboratory experience is preferred but not required
Required Skills
- Experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Basic computer skills
- Good math skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task
