Application Specialist

As an Application Specialist, you will conduct product startup demonstrations, and provide application assistance for new and existing product lines. The Application Specialist will work independently and within teams to complete projects ranging from the development phase to the launch phase.
Key Responsibilities
• Applications testing - complete hands-on application testing for new product development
• Training field personnel and customers on new product demonstrations, equipment usage, and spray application techniques.
• Product benchmarking- conduct internal and external product testing, document and report results
• Ensure that accurate safety attitudes, procedures, site rules are observed on all work programs and conduct work in a manner that protects self, co-workers, the environment, and the safety of the community.
• Follows procedures and obtain quality results in a timely manner. Communicates with Lab formulators on testing outcome and observations and suggested path forward.
• Demonstrates the ability to contribute to the design of experiments.
• Participate at Customer sites to correlate line to lab activities and support line trials and launch of new business
• Operate and maintain coating inspection and application test equipment following established specifications
Qualifications
• 3-5 years practical coating application in the marine or heavy industrial business segments is preferred.
• Prior experience with coating inspections.
• NACE/ AMPP/ SSPC completed courses are preferred (but not required with ample work experience).
• Basic computer literacy and proficiency with programs such as Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
