ABOUT THE ROLE
Peloton is searching for an Apparel Product Developer & Production Managerto join our dynamic New York, NY team. In this pivotal role, you'll spearhead the management of fabric, trims, and apparel development and production, collaborating closely with both domestic and overseas vendor partners. Working alongside the Director of Development and Production, Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Planning teams, you'll play a key role in calendar planning, overseeing development projects, sample fabric positioning, coordinating cross-functional timelines, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, deep technical expertise in textile development, exceptional organizational and collaborative abilities, a keen understanding of quality standards and testing, and a track record of successful vendor management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the Product Development life cycle for apparel with domestic & overseas factories for fabric, trims, and apparel samples.
- Effectively communicate with manufacturers and mills for development timelines, sample placement, delivery dates, and product expectations.
- Create organizational tracking to monitor development status and maintain development WIP reports for weekly tracking of deliverables to meet calendar deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in merchandising, design, production, and technical design and facilitate the vendors on product details and development requirements.
- Partner with design to source and develop signature Peloton fabric qualities
- Place sample yardage orders and approve sample yardage submits.
- Follow up on sample yardage shipments and tracking.
- Continuously work with our mill and vendor base to focus on the seasonless development of new performance fabrics to ensure that we are always ready to present design/merchandising with various high-quality options.
- Identify products and mill partners for proprietary fabric development. Evaluate the cost investment and potential ROI and partner with the Director of Development for budgets
- Focus on sustainable fabric & trim sourcing initiatives and setting realistic goals to achieve Apparel sustainability targets.
- Source trim suppliers and fabric mills and stay current on market trends in fiber/fabric technology, sustainability, and manufacturing processes.
- Manage and maintain PLM data inputs for product and component development.
- Partner with factories for quality standards and consistency of products meeting Peloton standards.
- Communicate and monitor testing and compliance requirements for development, gather and review fabric detail sheets, and trim detail sheets for all components.
- Partner in developing the seasonal calendar and lead development recaps during weekly production meetings to report and communicate on deadlines.
- Effectively communicate with production manufacturers for order placement, delivery dates, and product requirements. Issue purchase orders and maintain SKUs.
- Negotiate seasonal style costing and maintain cost sheets and cost reports.
- Track and monitor vendor bulk shipments and provide weekly updates to our cross-functional team.
- Manage production deliveries and maintain WIP reports for weekly tracking of deliverables.
- Establish a strong partnership with technical design to communicate sample and comment deadlines and collaborate on product quality.
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- 5+ years of experience in Apparel Production, Product Development, activewear market preferred
- A go-getter with a positive, no task too big or too small attitude
- Highly organized & detail oriented with strong time management skills
- Experience with apparel PLM & ERP systems, Netsuite a plus
- Strong communication skills; proven ability to organize multiple channels of communication.
- Working knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, and garment testing
- Eagerness and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment driven by teamwork and collaborative innovation.
- Proficient in Excel & G Suite
