Animal Care Technician

How does an Animal Care Technician help achieve this mission?

An Animal Care Technician is self-motivated, organized, and outgoing with a compassion for all types of animals. An Animal Care Technician works as part of a team to ensure that all the animals in our care are fed and kept in a clean and sanitary environment. S/he is responsible for the daily feeding and cleaning of all the animals, providing accurate assessments of behavior and medical concerns, and following all disinfecting protocol to reduce the transmission of diseases. S/he is also responsible for ensuring all the animals in our care are treated equally and receive the same amount of care and attention. S/he should actively support the mission and vision of the Humane Society of Washington County.

What qualifications does a candidate for an Animal Care Technician need to be considered?

• Must be able to work early mornings, late afternoons (until 6:00 pm), weekends and all holidays.
• You must have the ability to stand for 8-10+ hours a day.
• The ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• The ability to handle all types of animals (cats, dogs, small mammals, and livestock)
