Summary:
Anesthesia Biomedical Equipment Technicians serve as an aid to the Anesthesia providers ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the quantity and specifications outlined by the manufacturer and must exemplify the RUSH mission, vision and ICARE values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of the Anesthesia gas machines.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair system and equipment malfunctions.
Research and order parts to perform repairs and maintenance.
Maintain documentation on equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
Assist with organizing and scheduling third-party equipment repairs.
Provide technical assistance and instruction to clinicians regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
Cleans, sterilizes, and sets up Anesthesia Equipment.
Must be knowledgeable of the JACHO and IDPH regulations as it applies to Anesthesia.
Immediately respond to emergency requests from Anesthesia care personnel for additional supplies/equipment as required.
Is knowledgeable in medical terminology regarding supplies and procedures as they relate to the interventional platform.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of Anesthesia sites with the same specificity as the Operating Room suites which include the following areas but not limited to: Endoscopy, MRI, Interventional Radiology, IVF, OB and adjacent labor delivery rooms.
Assist in receiving and tracking all Anesthesia capital equipment.
Set-up in preparation for Cardiac and Neuro Anesthesia cases.
Maintain infection control measures and policies involving Anesthesia machines.
Monitor inventory supply/equipment levels.
Duties include but not limited to: Airway set-ups, gas machine testing and trouble-shooting, patient monitor set-ups, emergency airway assistance equipment,
Be familiar with the Medical Center s Safety Policies & Procedures.
Other information:
Required Job Qualifications:
Associate degree in science Anesthesia Technology or suitable education and experience required
Two or more years of relevant experience required.
Basic life Support (BLS) certification required.
Knowledgeable of medical/anesthesia terminology required.
Knowledgeable of the Joint commission regulations and Illinois Department of Public Health regulations applicable to Anesthesia Services required.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Drager Machine certification (Apollo, Perseus, Fabius MRI, Fabius Tiro preferred
ASATT (American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians certification) preferred.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to safely transport anesthesia gas machines over long distances, lift 50 lb., and stand/ walk for long periods of time.
