This is a hybrid position. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites up to four days per week and work remotely the remaining day(s). A member of our Talent Acquisition team will provide more details.
The First Line Compliance Analyst supports the Business Unit Risk and Control (BURCO) team in the "First Line of defense," responsible for supporting and coordinating the application of the enterprise's compliance risk management framework within the Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB). The First Line Compliance Analyst will play an integral role in ensuring GCIB complies with Bank policies and procedures. The analyst is responsible for following established guidelines and identifying and resolving problems, but to refer more complex problems to supervisors or other experts.
GCIB product lines and industry vertical coverage includes: asset based lending, capital markets, commodity & structured trade finance, corporate advisory, funds finance, global financial solutions, project finance, securitization, supply chain finance, syndications and transaction banking.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide support to major product areas in GCIB in the development of processes, risk identification and risk remediation.
- Become familiar with all major risk stripes and MUFG's governance framework to identify and refine GCIBs compliance with them.
- Responsible for keeping the BURM (Business Unit Risk Manager) and Head of Risk & Planning informed of changes in the risk and control framework of assigned product areas that could impact residual risk.
- Enhance Risk & Planning's reporting framework to efficiently meet the team's obligations.
- Interact with internal auditors and external regulators as necessary
- Support data or operational process quality initiatives on behalf of USWIB as necessary
Qualifications:
- This position requires a general knowledge of and sensitivity to the current regulatory environment; understanding and adherence to the Bank's Risk Vision; and knowledge and application of compliance risk management policies, programs, and techniques
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in finance, business or another relevant discipline
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience as a compliance analysis, auditor, risk analyst, regulator, or similar capacity in the trust or financial services industry
- Ability to use analytical, evaluative and/or critical thinking skills to assess risks and controls in banking compliance and operations processes
- Ability to assimilate, evaluate and articulate business impact when compliance exceptions are identified
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with mid and senior-levels of management
- Ability to prioritize assignments to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to work with a moderate level of guidance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
The typical base for this role is between $80,000 - $100,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
