We are seeking a Manager for our new gourmet market opening in the Spring, called a.Market. This role will oversee the daily operations of our upscale gourmet and coffee market.
Job Description
- Manage all aspects of the gourmet market’s operations, including inventory management, merchandising, staffing and customer service.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive sales, increase profitability, and achieve business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of quality and service.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of market associates, providing training, and salesmanship.
- Curate diverse selection of gourmet foods, specialty products, and artisanal goods, sourcing from local and international suppliers and staying informed about industry trends and consumer preferences.
- Develop and execute promotional campaigns, events, and tastings to attract new customers, enhance brand awareness, and drive traffic to the market.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, such as sales performance, inventory turnover, and customer feedback, and use insights to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and company policies and procedures, maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting environment for customers and employees.
- Cultivate relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage inventory levels to minimize waste and maximize freshness and profitability.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional and proactive manner, striving to exceed expectations and build long-term relationships with customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail management, preferably in a gourmet market, specialty food store or similar environment.
- Passion for gourmet foods and strong understanding of food and beverage trends, culinary techniques and artisanal products.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high performing team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centered approach and a knack for building rapport with customers and employees.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and retail management software, experience with inventory management systems and POS systems a plus.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Opening experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Sits, stands, bends, stretches, lifts items and moves frequently during working hours.

Pay: $75,000.00 per year
