POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Alumni Connection Coach is to promote continued student educational and career development post-graduation from the Excel Center and to serve as a graduate advocate. This Coach is responsible for a direct caseload of alumni students, typically ranging from 100-200; however caseload and range of support may total up to 400 due to ongoing follow-up/tracking activities and short-term support sessions for re-engaging students. Responsible for maintaining educational and career pathway momentum, facilitating engagement activities, the Alumni Connection Coach functions as a liaison between alumni and post-secondary entities to ensure connections and success with various educational/enrollment processes. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The core responsibilities of the Alumni Connection Coach fall under the following categories:
Alumni Success Coordination
1. Identify community resources to address student gaps and need areas, connect applicable students to resources, and follow up with students & referral sources to ensure removal of barriers and support for academic and/or personal goals.
2. Manage and monitor students' learning experiences through individual and/or group meetings to facilitate educational planning and accomplishment of learning goals specific to career pathway.
3. Make applicable referrals for students restarting educational/career process, both internal and external.
4. Organize and facilitate educational and career readiness workshops, often working in collaboration with other staff, throughout the school year for current students and alumni.
Building Relationships to Support Alumni Success
1. Engage students via evidence-based coaching methods with regular intervals of follow-up to continually build rapport and gain evidence for progress.
2. Facilitate coordinated transitions from/to other applicable support staff (e.g. Life Coaches, College and Career Readiness Coach) for the purpose of continuity of support.
2. Become part of a reliable alliance of the Student Experiences team to ensure student engagement and retention.
4. Build relationships with colleges, certification programs, employers, and other entities to create avenues for early intervention.
5. Facilitate transition process from the College and Career Readiness Coach and Life Coaches into Alumni services.
Community Collaboration
1. Conduct school, home, and job site visits pre and post-graduation to maintain contact with students and assist students with key activities related to career and educational readiness.
2. Initiate, establish, and maintain relationships with community entities (internal Goodwill departments, educational institutions, industry, workforce, GCTA, certification programs, etc.).
3. Maintain ongoing collaboration with key community partners (community agencies, educational institutions, and employers) to enhance the array of support services provided to students and alumni.
 
Alumni Engagement
1. Develop an alumni association or related alumni group and corresponding activities to support sustained student connection to and engagement with the Goodwill Excel Center.
2. Assist with the planning and development of annual graduation activities, ceremony, and corresponding alumni involvement.
3. Develop, propose, and implement specific incentives to promote ongoing student engagement and retention.
 
Tracking Data and Outcomes
1. Manage and monitor student information to ensure academic progress prior to and during transition to post-secondary educational pathway.
2. Follow-up with alumni via in person, phone, email, and social media contact and log all communication into a database to track both short term and longitudinal outcome measures.
3. Verify employment wages, certification attainment and college credits and other data outcomes.
4. Document interactions with all applicants in school database in accordance with ethical quality, quantity, and timeliness standards.
5. Conduct research-based activities to gather quantitative and qualitative data around student experience (e.g. focus groups).
6. Facilitate research surveys with students to obtain outcome data, feedback, and key metrics at designated intervals.
6. Maintain database for student testimonials and success stories.
 
 
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist school team with outreach efforts and community integration events throughout the school year (periodically at nights and on weekends).
2. Collaborate with instructional teams to address student success. 
3. Flexibility to work PM hours 1-2 days per week to connect with night school students.
4. Provide support, work closely, and maintain open communication with leadership, staff, and students to support post-grad student success. 
5. Attend all team and professional development meetings. 
6. Flexibility to commute to surrounding Austin Excel Campuses
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree in social work, counseling, teaching, academic guidance, education, or related field.
3. Two years' experience working with marginalized populations. 
4. Valid Driver's License, up to date auto insurance and good driving record.
5. Must be able to understand work instructions in English.
6. Must have a framework for understanding socioemotional, behavioral, and educational trends related to providing key student supports in an adult-academic setting.
7. Must have working knowledge of computer programs and accessing internet applications such as Student Information Systems, Microsoft Office Products, Google Applications (Gmail), Excel, Microsoft Word, and Internet Explorer.
8. Knowledge of community resources.
9. Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills.
10. Must be self-motivated willing to be a team player.
11. Must be adaptable to shifting priorities while maintaining a positive learning environment.
12. Strong socioemotional and behavioral intervention skills.
13. Must have the ability to embrace change positively and manage their workload independently. 
14. Ability to gather and analyze data for informed decision making. 
15. Ability to develop relationships and to relate to a diverse population.
16. Must possess the essential mindset that all students can achieve at high levels.
17. Must possess understanding of marginalization and how it impacts those Goodwill serves and employs.
18. Exhibit respect for diversity of thought and have experience to advance it in teams/organization.
19. Must demonstrate a maturity of practice using the 7 pillars and principals of servant leadership.
20. Must be able to successfully pass a background check and complete fingerprinting. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to provide interventions and supports for special education students.
2. Ability to provide interventions and supports for English Language Learners. 
3. Bi-lingual in Spanish and/or Arabic. 
4. Experience working with High School students in urban, non-traditional, and/or adult education setting.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Depending on appropriate licensure, experience and qualifications compensation and benefits will be market competitive.
