Role Summary
The Airport Leadership Development Program Manager is the sole subject matter expert in the development, implementation, and delivery of Airport Operations & Customer Service (AOCS) station leadership training and coaching programs at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Horizon Air (QX). As an individual contributor, this role defines and executes strategy for Airport Leadership training and coaching and exercises considerable latitude and initiative to assess station leadership capability and subsequently develops short, medium, and long-term leadership training strategy for AOCS station leaders to effectively manage their business and operation.
Key Duties
- As the lead subject matter expert in leadership training programs, assess specific leadership and coaching needs at stations across the entire system.
- Define long-term strategy to address leadership needs at all levels of station management (leads to station managers) required to effectively manage their station.
- Exercise considerable latitude and initiative to develop and maintain a station leadership assessment model leveraging advanced concepts based on professional principles and theories.
- Manage the development and delivery/facilitation of individual or group training sessions held either at headquarters or at stations locally with an emphasis on station management and operational leadership.
- Own the leadership training budget.
- Collaborate with the AOCS Training Development team to provide curriculum requirements, define training outcomes, and establish effective delivery methods for leadership training.
- Leverage Alaska’s training Learning Management System (LMS) to assist leaders with training compliance for business partners and their employees.
- Establish and maintain a team environment that fosters an open exchange of ideas and information.
- Network with stakeholders within and outside of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air to build strong and highly productive relationships.
- Lead with a high degree of autonomy and drive change through influence.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
- 7 years of station or operational experience, or related area.
- Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/instruction experience in lieu of this degree.
- Previous experience as a station (airport) manager with a demonstrated ability to coach other leaders.
- Station management experience including managing station teams, budgets, frontline productivity and/or business partner hours, and a track record of successfully addressing complex station dynamics.
- Excellent instruction and facilitation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.
- Initiative-taking with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Outstanding communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) and presentation skills, with a demonstrated commitment to clear and transparent communication.
- Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.
- Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with other teams and workgroups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 40%.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Experience running a station at Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air.
- Experience in adult learning.
- Demonstrated ability to evangelize leadership skills and training.
- Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Influence a diverse team environment that fosters an open exchange of ideas and information.

Salary Range
$112,400 - $174,200 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
