SalaryLooking for an enthusiastic, responsible, and creative person with experience working with children for our After School program, starting immediately.
Work one or more afternoons per week, Monday through Friday, from approximately 3pm to 5pm. If you can only work one or two of these days each week, that is OK–it just needs to be the same day(s) each week, consistently.
You will be paid $25 - $30 per hour on-site at the school. Average sessions are 60-90 minutes.
You will be paid an additional 30 minutes, at your hourly rate, for early arrival at your site.
You will also be paid $10 per day as a travel allowance.
Public transportation travel expenses will also be reimbursed for your first month. After your first month, if you are working at least four afternoons a week, you will receive a monthly metro card so all travel (subway and bus), work and personal, is free. This Premium TransitChek MetroCard is a $127 monthly benefit to you.
On each day that you are scheduled, you will:
- Receive a text/slack between 11am - 12pm from our programs coordinator of where you are to report that day.
- Go to a new school location and provide assistance to, or be a sub instructor for, the After School program (sites can include locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx).
- You assist another instructor or lead the kids yourself in creating a STEM crafts project or a Scratch, Tinkercad, or Minecraft project online. We have tutorials for all these projects. The projects are made for elementary school students so they will be easy for you.
- Complete a form-based report after you are finished (takes 5-10 minutes).
Qualifications
- Experience working with children ages 6-14
- Love of creativity, crafts, arts, games, and computer programs projects a plus
