JOB TITLE: AFRICOM MRAP andCROWS System Trainer and Maintainer

JOB LOCATION: Djibouti, Africa

JOB DESCRIPTION: In support of AFRICOMperform all functional duties as part of the TACOM Life Cycle Management Center (LCMC) Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities and Sustainment (ALECS) program Trainer and Maintainer. Develop course curriculum, training modules and instructional materials for technical training programs to improve individual and organizational performance for both MRAPs and CROWS; Coordinates class arrangements, conducts training classes, and develops criteria for evaluating training effectiveness. Assess needs to determine training material content. Keeps abreast of information technology training needs, trends, methods, new materials and techniques.

NATURE OF WORK: You will perform as a MRAP and Common Remote Weapons Station (CROWS) system technical expert performing technical inspections, repairs, maintenance and training; while completing all process documentation accurately and in a timely manner; determine, develop and deliver training in and out of classroom environment; responsible to maintain a safe work environment which is compliant with safety objectives and policies; responsible for maintaining facilities, tools, work area, and shop/office to a safe, organized, and clean state through daily activities; other duties as assigned. You are expected to operate independently, with little or no direct oversight while willing and able to work in hostile and austere environments for extended periods of time (up to 12 months), with typically 10 hours a day at 6-day work weeks. You are expected to seek new, innovative work and be able to interface with military and civilian entities at all levels of command. Due to the high level of customer interaction, you must possess excellent communications skills and be able to work as a team with your partnered organization. Additionally, Research, plans, designs, and develops new applications for electro-mechanical equipment and systems. Reviews contractor's standards, specifications, and other documentation to determine mechanical engineering requirements. Designs or reviews simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and/or instrumentation systems using analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure systems meet required specifications. Gathers and correlates basic data and performs routine engineering research and development assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests to develop new applications or upgrade existing hardware. Guides and assists technicians in fabrication and installation of simple mechanical and related equipment and routine systems to ensure conformance of product and systems with engineering design and customer specifications. May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or improve equipment or system function. May review and correct drawings to ensure that products are in accordance with proper engineering techniques and specifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Active US DOD SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Pass full court criminal background check.
  • BA/BS degree (6 years’ work experience may substitute for a BA/BS; AA/AS + 4 years’ work experience may substitute for a BA/BS).
  • Graduate of MRAP University preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of proven maintenance, repair and technical experience and background in commercial maintenance or military operations or maintenance.
  • Must have Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC) (formerly known as Total Army Instructor Training Course (TAITC)) or Curriculum Development Equivalent from any branch.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of CROWS, US DOD crew served weapons with tactical employment experience.
  • Proven maintenance, repair and technical experience and background in industrial manufacturing, commercial maintenance or military operations or maintenance
  • Preferred areas of experience may be with light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, ground systems, generators, power plants, aircraft or any diesel or gasoline powered equipment or vehicle.
  • Maintenance support includes operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to component level.
  • Proficient with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters.
  • Effectively applies industry and/or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components.
  • Prior training and/or maintenance experience on MRAP/RCV systems preferable
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds over head and able to don all required Personal Protective Equipment and physically execute assigned duties.
  • Must pass all tests to obtain a U.S. military vehicle operator’s permit for required vehicles.

  • Ability to develop course curriculum.
  • Experience with office productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and knee.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
