Position Title: Adventure Programs Lead
Business Unit: Mountain Operations - Summer Adventures
Position Reports to: Adventure Programs Manager >Adventure Programs Supervisor
Positions Reporting to this Role: None
Location: Crystal Mountain, Washington
Compensation: $22-$24/hour D.O.E.
JOB SUMMARY
As an Adventure Programs Lead at Crystal Mountain, you will help motivate the team of employees and provide leadership in a small team setting. You will commit to being a role model for other staff and providing excellent experiences and memories of a lifetime to our guests. Primary adventure activities include our adventure course, climbing wall, and guided hikes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• As a program leader you will still be involved with regular tour operations and take guests on outdoor excursions including: guided hikes, aerial ropes course, climbing wall, and other activities as assigned.
• Provide leadership insight in the form of feedback, instruction, and directions to the Adventure Guide team.
• With support from management Adventure Program Leads will conduct ongoing staff training. This includes medical/rescue scenarios and technical skills clinics.
• Support the Adventure Program Supervisor with scheduling and staffing rotation.
• Report any issues guest or technical related to management.
• Help conduct & supervise routine maintenance and inspection of the aerial ropes course.
• Perform & supervise general maintenance tasks including trail work, sign making, and supporting other departments projects.
• Respond to customer concerns/questions
• Contribute to a positive working environment
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and secure working environment
• Promote and ensure safe practices using all required PPE and adhering to proper safety protocols in all activities
• Inspect equipment for safety concerns
• Promote and market activity options to our guests
• Help oversee stock levels and alert management when supplies are needed
• Attend daily pre-shift meetings and necessary trainings
• Gather guest feedback and recommend improvements to management
• Establish pre-function side work to be performed and make sure all equipment is accounted for and in good condition, notifying the Manager of any issues.
• Use and understand Points of Sale.
• Promote and maintain the highest level of customer service by anticipating the needs of our guests even before they realize what they need
• Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refer the matter to management. Notify supervisor of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items or alleged thefts.
• Develop and maintain an organizational culture, values and reputation with staff and guests.
• Ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment.
• Act as a representative of Crystal Mountain with guests & community members.
• Abide by all Crystal Mountain employment guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned -KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Basic First Aid & CPR Required
• EMT/WFR/WFA certification preferred
• All guides must complete mandatory aerial course training in spring.
• High energy, positive attitude and excellent communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
• This position is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays while in operation.
• Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position at least 50 pounds occasionally.
• Comfort working at heights, this position will utilize full body harness and routinely navigate features of the aerial challenge course.
• Must be able to climb, balance, and otherwise navigate all elements of the aerial ropes course.
• Auditory and visual acuity to operate radios, mobile devices, and basic outdoor equipment constantly.
• Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling constantly.
• Manual dexterity to operate technical equipment associated with the aerial ropes course.
• Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
• Ability to work for extended periods of time bending, reaching, and speaking constantly.
• Talking and hearing occur continuously in communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees, must be able to listen and respond with proper customer service.
