Description
The Adult Education Instructional Assistant is responsible for supporting Adult ESL students' English language development by assisting the lead instructor in classroom activities, gathering or creating resources, and completing required documentation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Attends and actively participates in all assigned classes.
- Provide individual tutoring or small group sessions with students particularly preliterate students.
- Facilitate classroom activities under the direction of the lead teacher.
- Provide technology assistance for students when appropriate.
- Model English language use in the classroom appropriate to the content and level of class.
- Gather or create classroom materials under the guidance of Instructor.
- Substitute for lead instructor when needed.
- Collaborate with lead instructor to prepare for upcoming classes and problem solve classroom challenges.
- Communicate program policies, procedures, and activities in students' first language when needed.
- Maintain excellent student records including attendance, pre-, and post-tests scores, and other paperwork required by Adult Education Policies in a timely manner.
- Participates in YWCA functions and community events as needed and requested by their supervisor.
- Attends trainings/staff meetings related to job responsibilities as approved by their supervisor.

Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to fluently speak, read, and write English.
- Multilingual in Dari/Pashto, Russian/Ukrainian, Zomi/Burmese, or another high frequency language strongly preferred.
- Experienced in using personal computer or laptop and educational technologies (e.g. Microsoft Office and Teams, Zoom, etc.).
- Strong commitment to learning, growth, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills when working with students and teaching staff.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Two years' experience working in an educational setting (teaching assistant, paraprofessional, instructional aide, etc.)

Salary: $40,000 per year
