SUMMARY
Under general supervision, manages Strategic Projects for Human Resources.
Bargaining Unit: MACA l Grade: 63 l Salary Range*: $77,344 - $96,590 per year l FLSA Status: Exempt
*The salary range for this position is provided by the listed bargaining unit's collective bargaining agreement; actual pay will be based on selected candidates' experience,internal salary promotion practices and internal pay equity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitors program compliance with regulations and standards; evaluates HR programs, and develops recommendations for changes.
  • Manages pre-service teacher process by coordinating with universities to ensure student teachers are registered and complete background checks; provides student teacher orientations.
  • Manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders; identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within project team(s).
  • Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools; track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Follows up with candidates and hiring managers to provide information and obtain feedback regarding search and selection process.
  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Works independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
  • Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent's goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
  • At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or related field; AND two (2) years of professional experience in Human Resources management, performance management or project management; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Knowledge of:
  • Minneapolis Public Schools policies and regulations.
  • Principles and practices of public sector administrative management, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, contract management, and customer service.
  • Principles and practices of Human Resources management in a public agency setting.
  • Principles and techniques for project management and organizational development.
  • Techniques and practices for efficient and cost effective management of resources.
  • Principles of record keeping and records management.
  • Computer software applications related to duties.

Skill in:
  • Interpreting and applying facilities management principles.
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Developing, tracking, analyzing and generating reports on recruitment, hiring, and diversity performance metrics.
  • Analyzing data and recommending effective solutions.
  • Conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, leadership and stakeholders.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing a wide variety of specialized software.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver's License may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work, heavy phone usage, and ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
