SUMMARY:
Manages and supports Early Childhood programming, in conjunction with Early Learning Assistant Director and Preschool Supervisor. Primary focus is on ECFE and home visiting program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
  • Implements Early Childhood program philosophy, policies, and procedures in alignment with Hopkins Public Schools and regulatory guidelines
  • In collaboration with Assistant Director, supports ECFE and Home Visiting programs and services to meet the identified needs of parents and children (birth to age 6).
  • Supervises staff and program tasks and projects; resolves ECFE workload and operational issues, and assures that ECFE goals are communicated and achieved.
  • Manages scholarship application distribution and completion for Preschool , ie: Pathways
  • Supports EC PTO along with Assistant Director; attends meetings and supports events and activities.
  • Promotes and monitors Early Childhood Family Education registration, marketing, and program publicity, including Eleyo database oversight and creation of registration platforms. Supervises staff work group assigned to this task.
  • Oversees attendance and waitlists for all EC programs
  • Manages building-wide campaigns and projects, such as picture day or district giving campaigns
  • Oversees substitute process for ECFE programs; serves as substitute in all Early Childhood program classrooms.
  • Collaborates with clerical, registration, transportation, human resources and nutrition staff to ensure program efficiencies. Completes tasks as assigned in regard to department collaboration.
  • Implements the development of outreach events and community partnerships scheduled throughout the school year.
  • Ensures program curriculum is in keeping with Reggio Emilia inspired philosophy, district goals, and with ECFE mission of parent education.
  • Effectively communicates with co-workers, school personnel, administration and families regarding daily program operations, including daily monitoring of ECFE email.
  • Promotes a team concept through participation in site meetings, Includes participation in the creation of program level and building level processes and documents.
  • Oversees hiring processes for all ECFE staff positions.
  • Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
  • Additional tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Education and/or Parent Education, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year of experience administering public education support programs.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
  • Driver's license.
  • MN Licensure in Early Childhood Education or Parent Education.

Required Knowledge and Skills
Required Knowledge:
  • District policies and procedures.
  • Research and best practices in Early Childhood and Family Education.
  • Computer applications related to the work.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Required Skills:
  • Maintaining an effective program and making wise decisions with minimal assistance.
  • Interpreting and applying state and Federal rules, ordinances, codes and regulations.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of Department staff.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Operating a computer using standard and specialized software.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Mobility to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an office setting. Travel required to locations throughout the District.
Hours & Compensation:
8 hours per day, 40 hours weekly, 260 days per year.
$35.10 - $41.75 hourly, depending on experience.
