About the Position:

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is committed in educating students to be culturally, globally, socially, historically and environmentally astute, civically responsible alumni able to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Administrative Support Coordinator I, for the Department of Psychology (Administrative Support Coordinator I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Administrative Support Coordinator I provide support to the Department of Psychology Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Psychology and Master of Arts (M.A.) in Psychological Research graduate programs. In consultation with Faculty Coordinators, works independently with potential applicants, accepted program applicants, and graduate students to explain the program, university, and California Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements, policies, and procedures including fieldwork requirements for master’s level clinical licensure. Organizes and prepares documentation, reports, forms, and interviews for M.A. and M.S. program department application processes. Assists students with registration. Under the guidance of Program Coordinators, prepares study plans and graduation checks for Program Coordinators' approval. Serves as liaison between Graduate Studies, Admissions and Records, and the department. Assists faculty with hiring graduate assistants, prepares contracts, and assures compliance with Unit 11 policies. Under general supervision, assists with student workers and serves as backup for absence management. Oversees Student Assistants and assures departmental office coverage in concurrence with the Administrative Coordinator. Coordinates Outstanding Graduate Student selection and prepares graduate information for Commencement. Oversees documentation, hiring material, and interview schedules for faculty. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications


High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
