About the Position:

Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC) supports students by building communities that foster a sense of belonging, creating opportunities to engage in self-discovery and critical inquiry, and serving as a hub for resources in inclusive and affirming spaces. We create engagement opportunities that empower, educate, and activate students in the areas of social justice, equity, and anti-racism. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Diversity Initiatives and Resource CentersAdministrative Support Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general direction of the Director of Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC), the Administrative Support Coordinator II is responsible for providing high-level office support to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Plans, initiates, executes, and coordinates complex projects, activities, and events with accountability for results. Evaluates and makes recommendations related to operational and procedural matters. Uses knowledge of specialized policies and procedures to complete assignments. Responds to customers via email, telephone, and in person. Uses a variety of office support technology and systems such as word processing and spreadsheet packages to complete assignments. Coordinates and schedules meetings and events as needed. Independently addresses a wide range of work unit problems which require interpreting policies and procedures and using ingenuity to put information together in new ways. Coordinates and works with individuals at all levels within the organization. Responsible for completing multiple work unit projects and priorities simultaneously. Provides work direction, training, and guidance to others as needed. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications


High School diploma or the equivalent and five years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to independently interpret and apply policies and procedures and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist. Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area. Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas. Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions. Ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference. Ability to effectively write and present own reports. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels including highly sensitive interpersonal situations. Ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
