ContinuousThe Anne Arundel County Council seeks an Administrative Officer. This is an appointed position in the County’s Legislative Branch and is an opportunity to serve the 7 elected officials who make up the County Council and the more than 590,000 citizens of Anne Arundel County.
The general role of this position is to provide superb administrative support to ensure a successful legislative process. The position serves to carry out the County Council’s aims and objectives and ensure that the statutory and other provisions affecting the running of the County Council are observed. This is a fulltime, appointed and exempt position located in Annapolis, Maryland.
The specific duties of the position include the following:
- Provide administrative services required to assist the legislative process
- Provide administrative support to seven elected Councilmembers and their offices
- Manage the Office of the County Council
- Manage all meetings of the County Council
- Serve as Secretary during all legislative sessions
- Serve as the custodian for all County Council records
- Serve as the personnel liaison
- Prepare and manage an annual budget
- Ensure that all directives of law are properly followed
- Additional duties as assigned
Successful candidates will have appropriate levels of education and experience in the legislative field and in the management of a legislative office. Experience working with Google applications, the Zoom meeting platform, and Microsoft Word is required. Strong analytic and critical thinking and adaptability skills must be demonstrated. Some supervisory experience is also required.
Anne Arundel County offers an excellent fringe benefit package. This position is an E5 pay grade and the annual salary range is $94,374.00 to $178,136.00.
