What You'll Do as an Administrative Officer 1:
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Field Operations/Field Services District 1
Report in location will be based upon successful candidate’s home location.
This position will travel 2 days a week, work in-office 2 days, and from home 1 day a week.
***This position will require daily travel to locations within their assigned area utilizing a state vehicle***
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor or Field Operations Administrator, act as Assistant Chief of District 1 Field Services, within the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, by coordinating & supervising all field activities relating to Deputy Registrar agencies & field representatives responsibilities, within the district (e.g., assign & monitor all audits, review daily activity reports, inventory reports, plan & schedule field audits, involved in agency recovery resulting from natural disasters floods, wind & storm damage, opening/closing of both site-control & deputy provided sites); Evaluate & monitor customer service levels at all district deputy registrar agencies; Prepare written report(s) of field services operations & maintain records & documents for each deputy registrar within the district; Transmit any policy or procedural changes to staff (i.e. electronic, written or staff meetings); Assist in the development of policy or procedural changes as approved by immediate supervisor; Ensure progress of compliance/training by deputy registrar agencies of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC), Ohio Administrative Code (OAC), Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) polices/procedures, Deputy Registrar Request for Proposal (DR RFP) & Contract; Act as a liaison between external customers, deputy registrars & BMV internal staff; Respond to routine & non-routine correspondence (i.e. inquiries & complaints) from the general public, government officials & BMV administrators, section chiefs & staff.
Perform follow-up examination of irregularities found in audit at deputy registrar locations; Identify, recommend, develop, & present training programs for deputy registrars & district field representatives; Approve leave requests; Complete payroll functions; Make recommendations for compliance & improvement for maintenance of proper internal checks & controls; Provide on-site support to agencies (e.g. in absence of field representative); Act on behalf of the District Chief, in their absence.
Complete performance evaluation for employees supervised; Make recommendations for discipline, conduct administrative investigations when necessary; Inspect all issued equipment assigned to field representatives; Available for on call duty during non-agency hours of operations; Assisting deputy registrar with installation or removal of BMV equipment, from an agency; Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
