Description:Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Engineering Construction & Central Utilities, the Administrative Chief Engineer is responsible for managing the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Central Power Plant. This includes high pressure boilers, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, steam and chill water distribution systems and all associated campus auxiliary equipment. This position requires 24 hour on call emergency response.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversees a unionized staff consisting of watch engineers and power plant mechanics.
- Maintains power plant compliance requirements for E.P.A./NYSDEC Title V permit including record keeping, reports, and inspections as required by government regulatory agencies.
- Supervises all aspects of the maintenance, repair, and operation of campus building management systems, and provides oversight of the campus wide water treatment system.
- Manages outside contractors performing work on various capital projects related to Central Power Plant and building automated controls.
- The position requires the ability to write bid specifications and requests for proposals, and evaluate submittals related to Central Power Plant equipment and controls service and maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Stationary engineer’s license.
- Universal EPA CFC certification.
- A refrigeration license preferred.
- Working knowledge of the following control systems is highly desirable: Siemens energy management system, Insight, Appogee, Delta, Automated Logic, and Trane Summit.
