About us
Christ Episcopal Church is a small business in Valdosta, GA. We are professional, agile and passionate about what we do as servsnts of Jesus.
Our divine purpose is to provide a unique, loving faith community that is personal, inclusive, and sacred.
PERSONAL: we mean that we're a place where people will get to know your name, who you are, and care about you as an individual. We host a number of people when we gather but not so big that you get lost in a crowd. We care about each other as a family.
INCLUSIVE: we mean that we value who you are as you are. We welcome people who grew up Episcopalian and people who've never even heard of the word, people who are followers of Jesus and people who aren't sure, people of all cultures, races, financial statuses, gender identities, denominations, political parties or stances, nationalities, or any other identifier that makes us all unique. We strongly believe that we ALL are valued as children of God.
SACRED: we mean that we are a part of the Episcopal Tradition of the Jesus Movement that values the sacred mystery of life and worship. Our worship—and life—is built around The Bible and the sacrament of Holy Communion (aka the Eucharist). We are part of the centuries-old Anglican tradition, rooted in the deeper universal tradition of the worldwide Church, valuing a rhythm of prayer and holy mystery seeing the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through and in one another in God's beautiful world.
“One of the nicest things people say when visiting Christ Church is that 'it feels like a holy and fun place.’ I understand that to mean the people visiting with us recognize us as a healthy, joyful, and growing family of Christians in the Episcopal tradition. That is who we are, with God’s help. We believe we are called to actively share our faith by word and deed. We are called to be evangelists, to tell the story of how Jesus makes a difference in our lives. We are Jesus’ voice, hands, and feet in the world.”--Fr. Hal Weidman, Rector, Christ Church.
