COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE
Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources.
This work unit exists to approve and process registrations for 90,000 Vessels, 30,000 Snowmobiles, 145,000 Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV's), 25,000 OHV Permits and 15,000 Non Resident Snowmobile Permits on an annual basis, and keep accurate registration record, information for ownership, identification and Law Enforcement purposes. In addition, the Registration Unit serves as the South Denver Metro Area Service Center, selling Annual State Parks passes, hunting and fishing licenses, and other products.
This position exists to provide vessel and vehicle registration customer services to both Colorado residents and non- residents. Approve and process the registration of vessels, snowmobiles, and off-highway vehicles, and clarify and reconcile with the customer any problems or questions that may arise. This position provides wildlife information related to fishing and hunting, along with selling park passes and a variety of other products. Serves the public in person, by phone, e-mail or US Mail.
Registration Application Processing
Verifies authenticity of applicant information on registration applications completed by customers, agents/dealerships, and Parks field staff, including Park Managers, Administrative Assistants, and other office/clerical staff, by accessing database files and comparing and verifying information provided by customers. Informs customers of discrepancies involving registration application information and requests additional and/or corrected information by initiating written or verbal communication. Compares applicants information to data and formats regulated by the Federal government as well as industry and manufacturer specifications.
Customer Service and Revenue Management
Assures office readiness for customer service. Sells park passes, fishing licenses, hunting licenses, and other products using IPAWs. Assists customers with hunting questions.
Reconciles previous day's sales by analyzing and balancing documents and revenue totals and closing shift boxes in IPAWs. Count cash, coins, checks, and credit batch closes. Organize change bags daily for front counter. Any discrepancies in these figures must be researched and corrected prior to final closeout. Prepares deposit for daily sales and takes deposits to the bank. Upload registration documents to vehicle profiles, and handle return mail for registration decals.
Supervision and Training
Assists seasonal employees in daily customer service duties by training, advising, checking work, and assuring that they are providing quality customer service. If they make a mistake, this position helps educate the temporary employee on proper procedure.
Assures that the equipment in the area is in good working condition and supplies are kept stocked. Assure that the brochure rack remains stocked appropriately for the season. Clean counters, computers, windows, floors, etc, as needed. Keep the customer bathroom tidy and stocked. Other duties as assigned.
Two years of experience in customer service or office administration in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
Substitutions
- Appropriate education in accounting, business, wildlife management, biology, or outdoor recreation or related field of study will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Current or former State experience relevant to this position
- Current or former Colorado Parks & Wildlife work or volunteer experience
- Relevant experience in an office setting to include record keeping, scheduling, and accounting
- Excellent customer service skills, problem solving abilities, and critical thinking.
- Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well independently as well as in/with a team.
- High proficiency interpreting and explaining rules/regulations.
- Proficiency in the use of Google email, Google docs, databases, the use of electronic licensing system(s).
- State of Colorado residency is required at the time of application.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state of Colorado driver's license if operating a State vehicle.

- Occasional travel may be required for trainings
- Schedule is Monday through Friday between 7:50am to 5:10 pm in the office every day
