Job Description
Seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of all transactions in the Arlington County Commissioner of Accounts office. This is an excellent, full-time opportunity for someone with the right mix of experience and attention to detail. Potential advancement potential for right candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process mail daily and scan into system. File hard copies as directed by office protocols.
- Answer phones and direct questions to appropriate staff.
- Processes payments into and out of accounts to track accuracy of filing fees.
- Post payments by recording electronic, check, and credit card transactions.
- Maintain records of all payments, receipts, and other transaction records.
- Protect public trust by keeping information confidential.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Solid analytical, computer, and customer service skills.
- Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
- Extremely well-organized, strong attention to detail, and desire for accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma at a minimum; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience in the court system a plus.
- Keyboard (data entry) skills and knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook are required. Must be able to learn the office's computer management system.
